Dennis Daigle Show He's Big, He's Bad and He's Going to Rock Your World. . .

Star Wars Review

by Dennis Daigle

Man, where do I start? What on earth was George Lucas thinking? He is clearly someone who was raised on fairy tales and fables which he has 'updated' and transported into an age and place a 'long way away.' The film centres around a young Luke Skywalker who meets with a 'Jedi' master called Obi Wan (played by Alec Guiness). Luckily for the pair, they were destined to meet so Obi Wan could pass on his teachings and Luke could save the galaxy from a fellow in a big helmet. Please! Darth Vader, the evil villain of the piece, chokes and splutters his lines while breathing heavily. Oooh scary! The only saving grace (for which I rewarded two points) are, the clearly buddy-cop movie influenced, couple Han Solo (a young Harrison Ford) and Chewbacca (a man-dog creature). Those guys are hilarious! I don't know if anyone has ever wasted their time with this two hour sci-fi fest, but I would not bother. The spaceship dog-fights are exciting enough, however totally lacking any originality. My only request is that Mr Lucas refrains from ever making a sequel to this boring flick.
