to her mates, is young, blonde and presents popular S4C footie
magazine Sgorio - what more could a lad want?
She even loves Des Lynam. "I absolutely adore the
man. The media nowadays build you up one day and put you down the next. But Des
just keeps his head down and does his job brilliantly."
Amanda, like
her idol Des, is very busy at the moment. She's in her sixth year of Sgorio
and fourth year of the Welsh Holiday programme. A. P.-T.
is also moving into English telly. "I'm in my second year of the
English Holiday programme - which is great. I've had a brilliant time
filming in places like Canada and Disney World."
Nevertheless, unlike most
of her counterparts, Amanda didn't have family in the industry so had to make
her own breaks. "My Dad is a milkman and he would always tell me to get a real
job because I wanted to be a TV presenter."
Although, surely being a lady makes it
easier to get into the men's locker rooms after the game? "I never get into the
men's locker rooms - I'm still trying," Protheroe-Thomas laughed. "Okay, I
stand out a little bit more because if there are any other females there
they're usually dark and I'm blonde. But I find the fact that you're Welsh is
more important; Welsh is my first language."
And finally, Celebritymate gets to the real
nitty-gritty that every sports fan wants to know: Which player has the best
tackle? "I like the way you said that. Truthfully, my mind is usually
on the game. I'm a professional."
