The Honeytrap
Reviewers constantly refer to
The Honeytrap's music as sweet and saccharine but, puns aside, Celebritymate's
Toby Osborne learnt that they "take an instant disliking to those people." Oh,
and they don't sound anything like Texas either.
Bret, Andy and Sue are a cool
Northern threesome with a hotch-potch of musical influences that make up the
Trap's melodic style. Nevertheless, they desire to be anything but 'sweet' and
have "dirtied things up" on their latest tracks; creating a classic, grainy
sound. Although, as a three-piece, they are not gigging at the moment, yet
their stuff is still getting heard. "Our music is on seven different websites
at the moment, like MP3.com. Just because we can't play live, we won't let it
stop us. Thanks to the Internet we are still going strong."
Nevertheless, the departure
of a drummer remains a bone of contention for the trio. Drum machine or a human
drummer? What would be best for the band? Either way, being temporarily off the
live circuit has allowed The Honeytrap time to write "loads of songs and move
back towards authentic music."
With the two Jeordie lads
being in different bands for 12 years each and Sue having a cracking voice, The
Honeytrap are unmistakably one to watch. For their fearless approach to the
latest web technology alone; they have guaranteed that, at the very least, they
will be heard.
Toby Osborne.
